Camp Half-Blood News

Silena Beauregard (Aphrodite cabin leader), and her best friend Gennifer Hale approached the cornfield. They started visiting it regularly, to stop briefly to have a moment of silence to honor their cabin members, Naomi and Samantha.

This particular day, Ashton and Beckendorf had passed the cornfield on the way to the forges. Silena trotted down the hill to talk with her boyfriend, Beckendorf. After a few minutes of chatting, they heard a scream from the top of the hill.

"NO, PLEASE! HELP!!!" It was Gennifer!

Silena, Beckendorf and Ashton ran up the hill to help. Gennifer was lifted off her feet, in the arms of a tall, dark-cloaked stranger. She was dragged into the cornfield.

"No!" Silena screamed.

Beckendorf and Ashton pulled out their swords and charged into the cornfield in attempt to rescue Gennifer. They followed the stranger dragging Gennifer, who suddenly turned into a black spirit and swiftly traveled through the corn stalks. There was an explosion of black dust, blinding them. When the smoke cleared up, there was the crumpled body of Gennifer on the ground. She had been stabbed in the stomach and was slowly being drenched in blood. Ashton picked her up and ran out of the field, rushing to the hospital cabin. Beckendorf comforted Silena, who was crying her eyes out.

Gennifer is alive. If Silena, Beckendorf and Ashton hadn't been around, Gennifer's body would remain in the field until she had died.

Annabeth was rushed to the hospital cabin and was treated by Apollo campers. And finally, after being in a brief coma, Annabeth has awaken. Still dizzy and weak, everyone had rushed to her side.

"Who's the intruder? Are you okay? Why? HOW? WHO?" So many questions were thrown at her. Annabeth was baffled.

"What am I doing here?" Annabeth cried.

The crowd silenced.

"Annabeth," Chiron said calmly, with a hint of panic. "What is the last thing you remember?"

"Umm," Annabeth closed her eyes. "There was the murder at the cornfield, the meeting, dinner at the pavilion, then I went to bed."

One of the Apollo nurses nodded. "Ah. After being hit in the head, she lost her memory of the attack."

Annabeth turned pale. "Th-the attack? What...what are you talking about?"

Malcolm stepped up. "She saw who the intruder was. Apparently, he or she knocked Annabeth out on purpose so she wouldn't remember who it was. But who was that other girl the intruder had?"

"Oh my gods," Silena Beauregard exclaimed. "On the attendance today...Kristen Bell wasn't here at any of the classes."

"She wasn't here this morning for breakfast at the pavilion, either," Percy Jackson points out.

In horror, they realize what might of happened. The first thing they did was rush to the cornfield.

And they found the body of Kristen Bell.

The picture above displays the action around 3:30 AM. Annabeth lies unconsious after being knocked out by the intruder. Malcolm was awake during the incident and is ready to attack with his weapon. But the abducter has vanished quickly into black smoke, leaving with whoever the blonde unconsious girl in its arm was. The black smoke is slowly spreading across the Athena cabin. All of the Athena campers have awaken from the smoke and evacuated outside.

It was 3:30 AM. Everyone in camp was fast asleep. Malcolm Flynn was under his bedcovers in the Athena cabin, reading a textbook on advanced architecture, when suddenly he heard a whoosh!

He peered out of his covers, and saw a dark human figure peering over Annabeth's bed. It grabbed her tightly around the neck, and Annabeth began to choke, not able to cry out for help.

She tried to reach for her dagger, but the figure held her back. Malcolm noticed in the person's other arm, there was an unconcious body of another blonde girl. Annabeth kicked her feet on the ground, making noises on the floor, trying to get someone's attention.

"Shhh," her abducter whispered. "You don't want to die right now, my pretty?"

Annabeth instinctevly looked up at her abducter. Apparently she saw who it was, because she gasped. Realizing he/she was recognized by Annabeth, the intruder grabbed the hilt of her dagger and brought it down to her head, knocking her out.

Malcolm was cowering in fear under his bedcovers, but gathered up his courage. He was a child of Athena! He was a hero, not a wimp! He pulled out his sword and lunged at the abducter.

The abducter was shocked, not expecting anyone else to be awake. In suprise, he/she dropped Annabeth and she tumbled to the hard floor. The abducter quickly disappeared into black dust.

On November 8th, a few girls from the Demeter cabin went to the cornfield to harvest crops. They were giddy with excitment! (November is their favorite month, because they get to get out of the regular camp schedule to harvest crops for the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner.)

You can imagine how loud the screams must of been due to the fact they found the dead body of Naomi Hastings (Aphrodite cabin), lying hidden among the long stalks of the cornfield.

Chiron had the cornfield evacuated. It wasn't too long before Chiron found the body of Samantha Kate (Aphrodite cabin), as well.

By the looks of it, Naomi and Samantha have been murdered. Their bodies were slowly starting to rot and be decomposed, so they'd obviously been killed at least a few days ago.

Deaths are unfortunate, but not uncommon around Camp Half-Blood. Campers are killed by monsters, but die heroes. But this case is different. Naomi and Samantha didn't die heroes--they died as helpless victims.

Who is behind this? A monster? A god? A camper?

"They were among some of the most gorgeous girls in Camp Half Blood," Silena sadly says at the camp fireplace as they burned their shrouds. "Naomi's lips? Omigods. I would KILL to have lips like her. Naomi was statuesque! And Samantha was so stylish and funny...everyone wanted to be her friend. Not to mention she was GORGEOUS."

Silena also added, "Which brings me to my next inference: the murder could've chosen any camper. Why the seductive, gorgeous Aphrodite girls? This has got to be some desperate guy. Like Percy!"

"Hey!" Percy said.

After a few months of being back in school, Percy Jackson has been working hard on his studies. After years of fightning monsters, Percy is trying to get an education with getting expelled. So far he was doing good...until a monster exploded his classroom. So guess who got blamed? Percy.

Yep. Now Percy's back in camp, training to fight the monster who attacked his school. Looks like there's a monster on the loose!

Jade, Odete and Annabeth were desperatley trying to get off of the volcano. But they couldn't get off without finding Rickey and Casitey! They searched inside of Pandora's temple, and finally found Rickey in a cell. Her legs were chained to the wall so she couldn't move. Suddenly, the girls heard a huge explosion. In horror, they looked out the window to see a huge black cloud rise from the top of the volcano.

"You can leave me," Rickey said with tears in her eyes, still trying to break the chains off her legs. "It's meant to be. In the prophecy. Only three will return."

"No," Odete cried. "No maiden under my care will be left behind!" Odete used all of her immortal strength. Suddenly, she began to glow. She broke the chains and then fell over, exaughsted from the power she used. Annabeth and Jade quickly heaved Odete to her feet. Rickey hugged Odete, crying, and thanked her.

The air was becoming thick and hot. Their eyes began to sting. They ran outside and down the stairs, leading them back to the ground. Lava began to pour from the sides. The ash clouds spread further, and hot rocks were flying everywhere. They coughed from all the smoke and staggered from the heat. They had no choice but to run. They found the Golden Hound sitting under a tree. But where could they go? The entire island would be covered in lava.
Suddenly, Annabeth remembered. "Everyone, go inside of the Golden Hound! Hephaestus created him in his volcano workshop. All of his contraptions are lava-proof!" They swung open the dog's belly and hopped inside, quickly closing it after them.

"Are you sure this is going to work?" Odete asked Annabeth, fanning herself from the heat.

"Just stay calm," Annabeth said. "Everyone just close your eyes and go to sleep..."

The next morning, the girls woke up to darkness. They opened up the door, and they were shocked. The sky was gray. The trees were shriveled up and dead. The grass and plants were black and burned. The lava was dry and black. The air smelt like smoke.

"We survived!" Rickey exclaimed happily.

"Well...at least four of us did," Jade looked down sadly.

"Oh." The girls were quiet for a long time. Suddenly, a huge bird flapped in the sky. They were suprised to see a majestic peacock fly onto the ground. On its back was...Casitey! Casitey jumped off the peacock's back and hugged its neck. "Thanks, Mom," Casitey whispered. Aparrently, when she had fallen off Pandora's temple, Hera, her mother, decided to swoop in and save her daughter.

Everyone is safe. Maybe you can change prophecies, after all.

After days of traveling, they finally reached Pandora's lair. She lived in a beautiful Greek temple. The sky was already darkening, as if preparing for a huge thunderstorm. Pandora's temple was on the very top of a volcano.

The beautiful Pandora looked disguisted as the girls came into her temple. "What are you doing here?" she asked.

"We need to find Hope before mankind will loose it for good!" Odete exclaimed. "You're the only person who might now where we can find it!"

"Why should I help you?" Pandora snarled. "The gods kicked me out of my beautiful kingdom because I opened the box. They sent me to this island were I live alone."

"Can you at least tell us who you think stole Hope?" Odete cried.

Pandora smirked mischievously. "That's easy. I did." There was a long, uncomfortable silence. "You did?" Jade suddenly said.

"Yes," Pandora said angrily. "I hate the gods. They hate me. They say I ruined mankind. I used to be perfect. But because of that horrific box, those imperfections like jealousy and hatred rubbed onto me. They think I'm useless! Well, after the world is destroyed, when mankind grows to hate eachother, the gods will see how powerful I really am! When the volcano erupts, I will have Hope destroyed! Thanks to Morpheus, I know exactly when it will erupt."

"That's why you took Rickey!" Annabeth exclaimed. "You needed her to contact her father so you he could have a vision of the next volcanic eruption!"

Pandora opened up her fist. A small ball of glowing light floated atop her delicate palm. It was Hope. There was only one thing to do. Annabeth charged Pandora with her dagger, stabbing her in the shoulder. Pandora fell to her knees in pain. Hope flew off her palm. The full moon rose over the temple. Hope slowly faded from a beautiful ball of light into just a regular, metal ball.

Casitey quickly picked up Hope and got her friends to run to the exit. But Pandora, shaking with fury stood up. She hissed some Greek words, and serpents slithered through cracks of the temple. One serpent lashed its tail around Casitey's ankles, sending her body skidding across the marble floor. The snakes snapped at Casitey until she was hanging off the edge of the temple, dangling thousands of feet in the air. The ball of Hope rolled to the edge too. Hope was slipping....and so was Casitey! The girls ran to save Casitey first, but Casitey insisted they take Hope. While Annabeth and Odete attempted to fight off Pandora, Jade grabbed Hope. But when she turned around...Casitey had already lost her grip! But suprisingly, there was no screaming. Casitey didn't call out for help. What happened to her...?

Finally, the girls were able to take out Pandora. She exploded into dust after Odete had slammed her into a column. Pandora was immortal, but not a goddess. So she'll come back...in a couple hundred years or so.

Annabeth, the brains of the group, did the math, and according to her calculations...the volcano was going to erupt tommorrow morning! They had to find Casitey and Rickey, FAST (if they aren't dead already), and try to find a way to bring Hope back to life. Of course, without getting melted by lava first.

Yes, you heard us right: the girls were almost killed by unicorns. In Greek mythology, unicorns were called Onoi Monokerata (One-Horned Horse). While walking in a flower field, they were suddenly charged by an unicorn. "I thought unicorns were extinct!" Casitey exclaimed.

"This is Greek mythology...NOTHING is extinct!" Annabeth cried. The unicorn's knife-sharp horn nearly ripped them apart until a beautiful nymph appeared. "Who are you?" Jade had asked.

"Are you?" the nymph repeated.

"Wait, I know who she is!" Annabeth, the brains of the group exclaimed. "This is Echo. Long ago Zeus was fooling around with nymphs behind Hera's back, and when Hera went looking for him, Zeus asked Echo to distract Hera so Zeus could get away. Hera found out, and she cursed Echo, so she could never speak her own words, she could just repeat the words of others." Echo nodded her head sadly in agreement.

The girls told Echo about their Quest, and Echo gestured them to the unicorns playing in the fields. "You want us to ride them?" Casitey asked. Echo nodded. But when the girls tried to get on the unicorns, the unicorns just shook them off. Echo helped them for hours until they were all each on their own unicorn.

"Do you know the way to Pandora?" Annabeth asked. Echo nodded. Echo leaped onto a unicorn, and to this moment is leading them to Pandora.

After resting from the attack of Arachne, the girls got up to continue their journey. But Rickey took the wrong step...into quicksand! Odete, Annabeth, Casitey and Jade panicked. They grabbed a nearby vine and thrust it towards Rickey, but Rickey didn't grab it.

Rickey said, "It's going to be okay, trust me." She sunk deeper.

Tears were streaming down their cheeks as the girls desperatley shouted at Rickey to grab the vine. Rickey just shook her head, smiled, and dissapeared into the quicksand. They swear they heard Rickey's voice under the quicksand saying, "It'll be okay!"

Does Rickey know something they don't? Or is she gone forever?

After hours riding through the ocean, the girls reached Pandora's island. They had to stay on the beach until their tails dried up and withered away in the sun...then they got up and searched deep into the island.

They stumbled into a dark cave. Everyone was shaking with fear...except Annabeth. She fearlessly led them further and further in until it came too dark to see anything. Annabeth remembered she had a flashlight and flicked it on...and was horrified to see the cave completlely covered in spiderwebs. Annabeth could of fainted there on the spot.

Suddenly, Annabeth's body was slammed backward and hung unconsious from a gigantic spiderweb. They heard a raspy voice say, "You shall not pass through me alive, daughter of Athena!"

They were horrified to see a gigantic spider in their path. Casitey tried to help Annbeth, but the spider shot her down. Suddenly, the spider picked up Jade by her leg with one of its pinchers and was about to crush her alive, when suddenly a bright light flooded the room. The spider shrieked and dropped Jade.

"Playing nice, Arachne?" a female's voice shook the cave. An owl fluttered to the ground.

"Curse you, Athena!" Arachne the spider screamed, remembering her horrific story. Long ago, Arachne was a beautiful woman. She was a fantastic weaver, and began to brag, saying she was better than Athena. Athena heard her and became furious, so she challenged her to a weaving contest. Arachne's weave turned out to be prettier than Athena's, and Athena became furious. Athena angrily turned Arachne into a spider and said, "There! Now you can weave for the rest of your life...that is, weave spiderwebs!"

Now, Athena's bright light knocked out Arachne. Spiders have poor eyesight, so the light must have been overwhelming. Athena, in owl form, fluttered away without another word.

Annabeth and Casitey were unconsious, so Odete and Rickey had to carry them out the cave. Jade's leg was turning purple from the spider's pinchers, so she had to limp out of the cave. They all found a (empty, spider-free) cave and are going to rest there for a while, to heal and recover.

To get to Pandora, the Quest group has to cross the ocean to get to her island. Unfortunatley, the sea was brewing up a huge storm, which could only mean one thing: Poseidon was in a bad mood. No children of Poseidon are on the quest, so no one can reason with him. So Chiron sent them to to goddess they least expected for help....Aphrodite?!?!

When they entered Aphrodite palace, the girls couldn't help but feel self-consious when they saw the drop-dead gorgeous goddess. Aphrodite herself took a big part in creating Pandora, so she was eager to help on the Quest. She loaned them her two ikhthyes, which were her huge Syrian fish who had helped bring Aphrodite to shore when she was born. With the killer tides Poseidon was sending, not even a child of Poseidon could survive.

Aphrodite also gave them each a pearl to swallow. Swallowing them would give you a fish's tail...Aphrodite's husband, Hephaestus worked part-time job in underwater volcanoes, so she went to visit him sometimes as a mermaid so she could swim and breathe in the ocean.

Thanks to the goddess of love, the group is now in the ocean, gliding through the deadly storm with the ikhthyes.

NEWS ALERT! Mount Olympus called Chiron urgently to come visit the sealed room which contained Pandora's box. No one is allowed in there...they couldn't risk Hope escaping the box. But a few days ago the skies began to darken and storms arose, and Zeus wasn't controlling it. Horrified, the gods realized the only thing that could mean this freak weather is that someone has opened Pandora's box.

Who would be so cold to open Pandora's box? All of the evils were already released into the world....now Hope is gone. Only one person might be able to help us find Hope....Pandora herself.

This means we need a Quest. We need heroes to travel the dangerous journey to reach Pandora. This is an end-of-the-world situation!

The Heroes will be chosen tommorrow, and they will recieve the prophecy from the Oracle. Also, when the heroes are chosen, CHBG will provide the story of Pandora's box right here on the News page, so everyone will know the complete story.

New monsters, deadly obsticles, a long journey....this may be the most dangerous Quest yet.

Could this be the end of our Edward problem? For this entire week, there were no signs of Edward or any attacks. Also, Maria Collins who was missing for ten days has been found injured in the woods, but alive.  Only Artemis claims to know where Edward is. Artemis was seen walking out of the woods at night, and everyone was asking her what she was doing, curious to know what a goddess would be doing in the woods in the morning. The goddess, in her preffered 12-year-old form, just shook her head and smiled. "Oh, nothing. Just doing some late-night hunting. And don't worry; Edward won't be bothering camp anymore." No one noticed Artemis mischeviously rubbing her hunting dagger the entire time she was speaking...

Now, the juicy part: the traitor who let Edward in was....Lillian?!?!

Lillian admitted it, bursting into tears. She said she let him in because at the time she didn't know about his criminal record--plus, she was overjoyed to see her real father after missing him her entire childhood. Edward pretended to be excited to see Lillian, and when she granted him access into camp, he hid to plot attacks. Lillian thought Edward was gone, so she said not a word. When Edward attacked them at the Fireworks, she was too horrified to confess.

Lillian apologized, but it's really not that bad. Artemis wanted to kill him anyway.

The three Huntresses missing since the fourth of July have been found...dead. Well, not found. Their bodies were found lying in front of the Artemis cabin. Apparently, Edward had killed them all and brought the dead Huntresses so Artemis could see what was to happen to the rest of the Huntresses.

Artemis is furious. She told a CHBG Interviewer: "Is he trying to make a point or something? Trying to cast revenge on me for turning him in so many years ago? I swear, once I catch that little (censored), he'll regret busting out of that rusty jailhouse. He does NOT want to mess with this goddess!"

Chiron, and a few Harpie investigators closed down the Artemis cabin. All the Huntresses and daughters of Artemis were moved into the Big House. The investigators are searching for any traces of evidence that Edward might of left at the Artemis cabin.

On the bottom picture to the right, Artemis and her Huntresses are back from jogging around Camp Half-Blood. In the picture, she is having a meeting, saying if they find Edward, give him no mercy. Bring him to her. She wants to kill him herself.

Artemis told us that each of her Huntresses are like a daughter of her own. She loves them each. She knows all of their names. Their favorite color. When their birthday is. Losing three of her Huntresses really angered Artemis. She was caught by an Apollo camper punching a tree to let out her anger....the strong oak tree now has a gigantic hole from the punch Artemis released.

After countless hours of standing by her side and healing her, Brandon stood up to leave the hospital wing. All night he was muttering how angry he was at himself, not being there in time to save Lorelei and how he was going to kill whoever did this to his girlfriend.

At 4:50 AM, Brandon disappeared. Lorelei began to worry because it was past curfew and the Harpies would be out to find some late snacks. But everything changed when the Harpie Security Camera caught a picture of two men fighting in the woods...everyone agreed that it is most likely a picture of Brandon attempting to beat up Edward. Unfortunatley, it looks like Edward won this match. If that is Brandon, then he has been captured and fatally injured. Artemis sent out her Huntresses to search for her daughter's boyfriend a few hours ago. We will keep you posted. 

The Fireworks party was a blast! Especially because Artemis and her Huntresses have arrived early at camp to celebrate.

 Pretty much everyone had a good time...except for Lorelei, who woke up from a two-hour concussion after being shot in the hip.

Lillian and Lorelei, the two half-sisters went to the Fireworks with the couple Lee and Sasha, and BFFS Gennifer and Silena. Unfortunatley, while the Fireworks were exploding, the blast of a gun was heard and Lorelei tumbled to the ground.

On the the picture to the left, you see Lillian comforting Lorelei, Silena pouring water on Lorelei to revive her, and Lee calling on his cell for medical attention. Gennifer had run to go get some nearby help from Apollo campers. 

Lorelei is currently in the hospital wing being tended by the Apollo campers. She is alive and doing better. The Apollo campers' magic helped close up her bullet wound, but she is still to weak to get out of bed.

To think Lorelei's injury was bad...reports say that three Huntresses are missing.

Either someone really hates Lorelei and the Huntresses.....or Edward Beaumont has broke into camp.

We know that the News and Gossip page are not supposed to be updated until June 2nd, start of Season 2, but we have a News Alert.

A criminal is attempting to kill all the daughters and Huntresses of Artemis.

Here's what happened: a new camper arrived at camp this morning. Her name is Lillian Beaumont. Campers were awestruck by her talent in archery and running. When she was suspected as a daughter of Artemis, Chiron went to Lady Artemis herself and she was suprised. Yes, Lillian was her daughter. But she said that the Lillian was supposed to be dead!

Artemis had explained that Lillian's father, Edward Beaumont, was a handsome young man in Arizona who stole Artemis's heart. They were in a strong relationship and had Lillian. Little did Artemis know that Edward was actually on America's 10 Most Top Wanted Criminals. Edward had a huge criminal record of murder. When Artemis found out, they got into a huge fight. Embarrased and angry, Edward stole Lillian (she was only 6 years old!) and beat her up until she was unconcious.Thinking she was dead, he drove into the middle of a desert, dropped off her little body and drove off. Artemis was broken-hearted, thinking her beloved daughter was dead. She reported Edward to the police and he was taken into jail. That is why she made an oath to never marry or love a man again.

The kind goddess Hestia saw the poor little girl dying in the desert. Knowing she was a daughter of Artemis, she took the girl and nursed her to health. Hestia tried to keep Lillian's life a secret. If Edward found out she was alive, he might go back to kill her, just to anger Artemis. So Hestia put Lillian into a foster home.

Scary news: Edward broke out of jail. After years of plotting, he finally escaped and is on his way to cast revenge on Artemis. He was the only one who knew she was a goddess. Knowing he was on the loose, Hestia disguised herself and took the 19-year old Lillian away from her foster home to Camp Half-Blood, the only safe place she could stay. Artemis recieved a horrific letter saying that he knew his daughter was alive, and he's coming to Camp Half-Blood to kill the daughters of Artemis and all of Artemis's Hunters.

We wrote this news to alert the campers to get ready. We posted his jail picture so you know how he looks. Judging by the placement of the jail he was in, he may arrive in two and half weeks.

Melina summonded pegasi telapathically and they hitched a ride to camp. The pegasi landed in front of the hospital cabin. The campers cheered as the girls burst into the cabin. Some Apollo kids, Annabeth and Luke were sitting at her side. Without question, they placed the Fleece on top of Thalia. Nothing happened. Thalia's condition was worse and could not be healed at this point. Annabeth cried into Luke's shoulder. Luke, who was a little red-faced himself, was patting her sympathetically. Annabeth held Thalia's chalky white hand...when suddenly it slumped.

Thalia was dead. No one knew what to do and panicked...until Thalia's sister, Storm, walked into the cabin. Storm sat by Thalia's side, murmered some ancient spells into Thalia's ear, and pressed her fingers across Thalia's heart. ZIPPPPP!!!! Sparks of electricity zapped out of her fingers, and the color went back into Thalia's face. She was still ill, but alive.

Marca and Sierra both carried the heavy golden Fleece to Thalia's withered up, dead tree. They placed it on the branches, and it immediatley got its color back. The branches moved back into place, it's green pines growing back. Same with Thalia...she's healed!!!

On the top right you see a picture of Thalia and Storm, posing in front of the hospital cabin. Maybe Thalia didn't need a huge magical source after all...maybe she just needs her half-sister to catch her when she falls.

The girls finally came out of the Underworld (located behind the Hollywood sign). Momentarily safe from danger, they had an emotional breakdown thinking of the monsters they fought and the death of Gisele.

Thanks to Sierra, they made it out alive. Sierra had to fight Hades because and all her friends were being attacked by Ceberus. Sierra suprised Hades with her sword-fighting skills and knocked him out. Sierra grabbed the Fleece hanging on Hades's chandelier (great hiding spot, Hades), and ran out.

To the left, you can see Sierra is the only one not covered in dirt and scratches. Obviously, because she is holding the Fleece. Now all they have to do is get back to Thalia before it is too late. 

After two days of searching in the Underworld, Sierra, Melina and Piper finally stumbled into Persephone's garden. They were shocked to find Persephone, the beautiful goddess, sitting on a bench, sitting next to...Marca???

Marca looked like a completely different person. Turns out, Persephone had lent Marca one of her beautiful spring dresses, and did Marca's makeup and fixed her hair. They were talking casually and talking. Butterflies fluttered around Persephone, who seemed to be pleased to be surrounded by flowers and serenity. 

Sierra was the first one to charge behind the bush they were hiding behind, her sword drawn. Here is a conversation that Casi Monboaz has recorded and we have put to words:

SIERRA: Mother! What happened here? Why is Hades's palace like a huge garden? Where's the Fleece? Thalia is DYING!

PERSEPHONE: Calm down, dear. Let me just expl.... 

PIPER: We aren't leaving without the Fleece! No more excuses, Mom!

PERSEPHONE: I'm sorry! But the Fleece is beyond my reach at this point!

SIERRA: Why are you in the Underworld? Aren't the next six months supposed to be spent on Earth with Demeter?

PERSEPHONE: Well...Demeter and Hades gambled over me. If Demeter won, I got to stay with her for this entire year instead of six months. If Hades won, he got to keep me for the entire year. And...Hades won.

MELINA: Do you know why Hades stole the Fleece?

PERSEPHONE: Well...

PIPER: Do you realize how much damage the theft of the Fleece has caused? Thalia is dying back at camp, Gisele was murdered, and we nearly got ourselves killed fightning a basilisk!

PERSEPHONE (sighs): Listen. Remember when I visited Camp Half-Blood? Well...I noticed the Fleece hanging on Thalia's pine. I saw how much youth and beauty it produced. So...I figured since I was going to stay in the Underworld much longer...I was curious to see if it could heal the gloominess of the Underworld and make it more like Earth.

MELINA: Wait....so you're telling us....

PERSEPHONE: Yes. It is I who stole the Golden Fleece.

Pop-quiz time! Which of the following would you find a full-of-life, beautiful, stunning, and detailed garden? 

a) At Demeter's temple  

b) At the Camp Half-Blood garden         

c) The gloomy Underworld

If you chose A or B, we don't blame you! Suprisingly, those answers are incorrect. The answer is C, the Underworld.

Melina, Sierra and Piper were super-shocked to enter Hades's palace and see flowers, grass, and even alive butterflies blooming. Outside of the palace lurked mourning souls, lava, darkness and despair. But in the palace...WHOA!!! No one saw that coming. Sierra sends Annabeth a text message:

ANNABETH, U HAVE BEEN IN HADES'S PALACE BEFORE. IZ IT SUPPOSED 2 BE FULL OF FLOWERS AND LIFE? THERE R EVEN BUTTERFLIES! PLEAZ TELL US WATZ GOING ON. - SIERRA

Now, there is something obviously wrong with Hades's palace. Annabeth describes Hades's palace as "gothic, beautifully designed interior, marble floors, torches on the wall..." A total opposite to the palace now! WOW.

As Sierra and Piper were admiring the garden's beauty, Melina spotted a huge patch of juicy, mouth-watering fruits. She WAS awfully thirsty and hungry after a long journey in the Underworld. There were some delicate red berries hanging from a branch...so shiny and juicy...Melina was in a trance. She plucked a berry off a stem and was about to eat it, but she was fortunate that Piper saw. Piper ran as fast as she could and grabbed the fruit out of Melina's hands. Melina got SO lucky that Piper caught her at the last second. Otherwise Melina would had to serve Hades in the Underworld forever!   

As if things couldn't get any worse! One, Piper was injured by the basilisk (don't worry, she's all better now), and two, Gisele was killed by Ares. Third thing to add on the list: Marca was taken by demons from the Underworld.

So the girls finally made it back into the Underworld...problem is, when they first got in, Charon didn't let them through. Melina, being a first-timer, beat him up and Charon yelled that they would pay for it.

On the way through a steep cliff-like path, Marca was grabbed by the ankle and covered by a swarm of batlike demons with glowing red eyes. They clawed at her, got a grip and pulled her down into the darkness. Melina, Piper and Sierra helplessly watched. Really, what can you do on a thin path leading into immense darnkess?

All they can do is hope they will find Marca before it is too late.  

The Quest group is taking a little too long for Thalia. As we speak, Thalia is in the hospital wing, Michael Yew and a few other Apollo healers at her side.

This is the report we're getting on Thalia's health: she experiences constant dizziness, tierdness, vomiting, occasional breathing problems, fainting, she can't get out of bed without falling on the ground, sore throat, and a lot more. Her vibrant blue eyes have dimmed, her face chalky white and pale.

On the top you can see a picture of Thalia in bed. We couldn't take a picture of her awake without her throwing a sharp fork at our faces or screaming at us to go away, so we took the picture will she was asleep.

Sasha from the Aphrodite cabin came to the hospital wing and kindly offered to paint Thalia's nails, and Thalia agreed, as long as they could be black. Demeter kids are whipping up Thalia's favorite flowers, sunflowers and daffodils, and putting them on the window near Thalia's hospital bed to brighten her often grumpy mood. The children of Deipneus, (god of preparation of meals) are making Thalia's favorite meal, some hot, fresh-off-the-grill cheeseburgers.

Everyone is trying to make Thalia feel better, especially after Michael Yew announced after days of medical research that if the Quest group doesn't return with the Golden Fleece soon, Thalia's sickness may become a life-or-death situation.

Sorry we got to you late: Casi Monboaz sent us information just now. Last night, at 3:30 AM, the group was leaving for the Underworld. Unfortunetly, as they left the hotel they were staying at, they didn't know that Ares was in the area. He was here to kill Melina. Anyone related to Percy was an enemy of his. Well, Gisele was cold, so Melina offered Gisele her blue sweater. So, as they were walking down the road, a bloodcurling scream stopped them in their tracks.

They turned to see a huge spear pierced through Gisele's chest. Gisele's eyes rolled to the back of her head, then collapsed to the ground, only revealing the smirking Ares behind her, holding the bloody spear. The girls were not armed, their weapons were stored in their suitcases. Melina could care less. She ripped open her suitcase, clothes flying everywhere. She grabbed her shield and sword, and ran at Ares like a bullet. He had just stabbed her best friend she had known for seven years! Ares only laughed as he rose to his true form, almost twenty feet tall. The hotel they had stayed in erupted into flames. 

Melina attacked Ares like there was no tommorrow. She dodged all of Ares's flames like a pro, then lunged into his chest. In pain, Ares poofed into a red dust. He was not dead, he had just quickly transported away.

The girls rushed to Gisele's side, trying to pick her up. But the hotel was falling apart. The smoke was making things hard to see and breathe. They only had enough time to save themselves, and watch in horror as the burning hotel collapsed on top of their friend.

Gisele and Lee Fletcher have been competing for the spot in Juilliard college for music. Gisele was accepted over Lee. Now that Gisele is gone, Lee will take her place in going to Juilliard.

After the Quest, when everyone is back, Camp Half-Blood will have a shrouding ceremony for the daughter of Apollo.

The Quest group finally reached the Underworld--YES! Bad news? After the first ten minutes, they ended up walking straight into a female basilisk's cave. Worse news? She was guarding her egg nest, so you can imagine how ferocious she was!

Casi reported to us that the girls were baffled. They had prepared to battle the Minotaur or Cerberus, common Underworld beasts. It was almost a hopeless fight. The basilisk was HUGE (we're talking Empire State Building huge), razor-sharp teeth, and if you looked into its eyes, you will be paralyzed (often temporary, but severe if not treated).

The first picture you can see the basilisk attacking Piper Stone, who was attempting to slash the beast with her sword. Unfortunetly, the basilisk got a good aim and Piper accidently caught a glimpse of its eye. Piper tumbled down into the darkness, her body paralyzed. Luckily, Gisele caught her in midair and carried Piper to a small cave, trying to hide. Gisele attempted to heal Piper with her magical healing powers. Fortunetly, it was a success. Piper was alive, but unconsious.

The bottom picture you can see a picture taken by Marca Smithens, who was trying to call for help on her EyePhone but accidently took a picture instead. Here is the basilisk slithering their way, right into the River Lethe! Their plan had worked. The girls had tried to lure it into the River Lethe (A.K.A., the River of Forgetfulness), and the basilisk's mind because like a newborn's. With the basilisk puzzled and confused, Melina, Sierra, Gisele and Marca took the chance and sliced the basilisk's head off.

Their condition was too weak to continue, so they had to leave the Underworld and sign into a nearby hotel. Piper, still unconsious lies in bed as we speak. Starving, covered with gashes and cuts and stretched muscles and bent armor, the girls decided they need a break. Going back in the Underworld in this condition would be suicide. But all is well, and they will head back into the Underworld tommorrow afternoon.

The Quest group recently took a brief break at a fancy restaurant in Colorado. What, wouldn't you be tired and hungry after a 10-hour trip on the back of a pegasi? They are halfway-there to reaching Hollywood, the location of the Underworld.

According to Casi Monboaz, the Quest group has already left the resturant and is continuing as we speak flying on the pegasi.

This morning at 9:30 AM, the Quest group (Melina Miller, Sierra Donahue, Gisele Bravehart, Marca Smithens and Piper Stone) took off on their hot rides: pegasi.

To the right you can see a picture taken by a sky nymph. Sierra is in the front of the white pegasi, Gisele beside her in the brown pegasi, Melina in the white pegasi, and behind Melina is Marca. Piper is riding the black pegasi.

This afternoon, Camp Half-Blood had an exciting battle of Capture the Flag. On the top left picture, you can see Annabeth Chase armed with her favorite dagger, ready to attack.

Everyone was having fun--slashing limbs, punching eachother in the guts, tripping in the woods, getting bitten by pesky mosquitos--a common Capture the Flag in the early summer.

Melina Miller, 16, (Poseidon cabin), decided to take base on Half-Blood hill with Percy. They were beat up from the fightning and needed to hide and take a little break. When they heard a group of campers coming their way, they hid behind Thalia's symbolic pine tree to sneak attack. Then, something phased Melina and Percy. Something...unusual. In horror, they saw that the golden fleece, in which had been protecting the borders of Camp Half-Blood and regaining its beauty and youth for the last four years, was gone.

Capture the Flag was immediatley cut short. The campers were told to stand back as Chiron went to inspect the tree. The pine tree's trunk was covering with claw marks. A few strands of golden fleece was still tucked into the pine's branches, but not enough to keep Camp Half-Blood safe. All the campers know what this means. They knew that the peace in Camp Half-Blood wouldn't go on for long.

This means that we need a Quest.

This morning, a HUGE monster cat-thing appeared out of nowhere. Campers normally fight monsters every day (commonly sea serpents at the canoe lake), but this is yet the worst. It scratched up many campers, who are now in the hospital wing being treated carefully. Two campers from the Athena cabin have been ripped apart by the monster, and unfortunatley we have lost two others to being drooled on by the monster. Apparently the drool is like an acid and burns whatever it touches to crisp. A newcomer from the Aphrodite cabin was slammed into a tree and her body was completely destroyed.

The monster has gotten away, the  campers have unfortunatley not defeated it. Campers claim to of heard a male god's laugh echo in the woods as the monster cat left.

On Saturday, May 1rst, day of the Spring Ball, there was an attempted murder. We are posting the news so late because the Harpie Investigator were, obviously, investigating the crime scene. Here is the story:

Luke Castellan (22, Hermes cabin), asked Annabeth Chase (17, Athena cabin) to the Spring Ball. Annabeth, who has had affectionate feelings for Luke (even though he has attempted to take over Olympus with Kronos inside his body) had been told by Luke to stop by the Hermes cabin before leaving for the ball. At 8:30 PM, half an hour before the ball, Annabeth was seen by bystanders entering the Hermes cabin. Everyone in the Hermes cabin had left for the ball except for Luke.

Dyrads claim to have seen a faint light coming from the Hermes cabin, but thought nothing of it. Little did they know that Luke had given Annabeth a "Coke", when the can was secretly filled with a charming potion to possess over Annabeth's mind.

At the ball, Percy (17, Poseidon cabin) offered Annabeth his hand in a dance. Annabeth, under the spell, took it and danced. Luke watched secretly as Annabeth reached under her dress to pull out a knife that was strapped to her leg. Annabeth raised the knife to the small of Percy's back (the weak spot from his invincibility curse he had from the River Styx), and Percy did not notice. Lorelei Eve (18, Artemis cabin) noticed just before Annabeth stabbed and screamed. She ran over and yanked the possessed Annabeth away. The knife fell out of her hand and clattered to the ground, Annabeth's eyes glowing white. As if waking up from a trance, Annabeth fainted.

Everyone (including Chiron) gathered round to see what had happened. There was unconcious Annabeth, lying in Lorelei's arms. The strong Charles Beckendorf (20, Hephaestus cabin) offered to carry Annabeth to the hospital wing.

Luke has recieved brutal punishments: no s'mores at the campfire for a week, and dish duty for the next month! Lorelei, hero and lifesaver, has recieved the first shower hour for this entire week (hot water guaranteed!)

Piper Stone (Persephone cabin), was walking on the beach when she saw Percy and Annabeth yelling at eachother. Annabeth was crying and shouting things like, "You should have been nicer to Luke!" Percy was obviously jealous. Just as Annabeth was about to leave the beach, a body emerged from the water...Luke.

Poseidon, apparently, had rescued Luke from the fire. Percy must've been especially furious, (his father had saved his archenemy!), for he pulled out his Riptide and challenged Luke to a death match. Luke wanted no fight. He simply lifted his Backbiter sword from his jean slot, glanced at Annabeth (who was totally shocked), and walked away.

Above is a picture taken during the ceremony this afternoon. There you see Lorelei and Percy, proud to still be alive. You can see Thalia and Annabeth, absolutely miserable for Luke. If you haven't noticed already, Clarisse never showed up for the ceremony. 

The ceremony always means two things--congratulating their success of the Quest, and uncovering the prophecy.

When you try to make things right, you will loose one in a fight. Lorelei thought she was making things right and they lost Grover to help fight for Juniper's life.

One shall bring harm and betray your side. Obviously, Clarisse.

And you will face the God of Light. When Lorelei's body was poisioned, Artemis demanded for Apollo to bring her daughter back to life.

At the end you'll reach your post. Lorelei and Percy finally found Luke's hideout on the other side of the island.

And fail to save what matters most. Unfortunatley, they had failed to save Luke. This is probably why Thalia and Annabeth were so bummed at the ceremony.

Yes, Annabeth and Thalia have been found. Percy and Lorelei found them playings cards with Luke on the rock under a waterfall. They were laughing and having a good time. When they approached Luke, armed with weapons, Luke held up his hand and claimed he wasn't here to hurt anyone. He wanted to come back to camp and take place as the head of the Hermes cabin once more.

On the way back to their just-made raft of the beach, a storm arose. Lightning hit an old tree and started a huge fire on the beach. Luke lead the girls onto the raft safely as Percy attempted to take out the flames with ocean water. With only enough time to save themselves, the left on the raft. Unfortunatly...someone was missing.

Luke.

Left screaming frantically in the flames, the raft heard Luke's cries from almost a mile away.

Above is a photo taken by Casi M. If you look closely, you can see Annabeth attempting to jump off the raft and swim to shore to help Luke. Annabeth can only helplessly watch Luke's island burn as Lorelei holds her back.

Today at 1:30 PM, (reported by Casi Monboaz), Lorelei and Percy finally found Luke's hideout, his tree house he made with Annabeth and Thalia in the "old times". Percy and Lorelei overjoyed as they reached their post.

After almost a week of hopeless searching, Lorelei and Percy finally stumbled upon a tree house in the forest near the beach. To the left you can see a picture Casi Monboaz took with her EyePhone of Percy helping Lorelei climb into the hideout with some helpful rope Apollo lent them.

According to Casi, Luke wasn't at the hideout, nor Annabeth or Thalia. But when Casi peered through the window, she saw Percy and Lorelei investigating the single room. Lorelei put her hand above the fireplace. It was still hot. That meant that Luke, Annabeth and Thalia hadn't left to long ago. They wouldn't be back for awhile. Percy checked out a drawer designed to hold weapons. It was empty, meaning they must have gone out hunting or something. We will keep you posted and report anything that happens next.

This morning (reported by Casi Monboaz), Percy took Lorelei's body to a river in the hopes of healing her. The cut from the hellhound that Lorelei has is highly infected and unfortunatley killed her overnight.

Thankfully for her thoughtful mother, Artemis DEMANDED her twin brother Apollo (god of light, literature, healing) to bring her back to life. The picture to the right was taken by Casi.

Apollo appeared with a burst of sunlight, and just barely brought Lorelei back to life. Lorelei has been resting all day. Her condition is unknown. Apollo predicts that Lorelei will be up and going by tommorrow afternoon. Until then, Percy will be by her side feeding her ambrosia and nectar that Apollo gave him.

We don't have much information, but Lorelei Eve (leader of Quest) just Iris-Messaged camp. After sleeping one night, Ares, god of war, found them on the beach. Apparently this island was his and Aphrodite's secret tropical paradise getaway, and he wanted NO intruders. He told Clarisse if she helped him kill Lorelei and Percy, he'd give her a prize. Unfortunetly, Clarisse accepted. Together they attacked Percy and Lorelei. A hellhound jumped Lorelei, leaving her with a broken wrist, some scratches and a nasty cut gashed on her arm. When Lorelei Iris-Messaged us, she was hiding behind a bush with her injured arm. Percy was still fighting. Before she could tell us anything else, the I-M lost connection.

For four days, the Quest group managed to reach a tiny island with barely any food or water left. Unfortunatley, Poseidon's temper rose somehow and the island recieved an earthquake, followed by a major tsunami. Percy made a bubble protecting Lorelei, Clarisse and himself, which lasted for a little while, until debree from the island destroyed it in the massive waves.

Unconscious from the debree, blinded by saltwater and killer waves, the three cast into the ocean.

Luckily for Casi Monboaz (Quest-watcher, hero-protector), she gave them the oceania blessing, therefore casting them onto the same island.

Casi took a snap of them on the shore and sent this pic to Chiron's cell phone. You can see all three heroes unconcious on an unknown shore, Lorelei being the yellow shirt, Clarisse with the red shirt, and Percy in the green. Casi is uncertain of their condition and according to her they are not yet awake. (Of course she cannot wake them, because she is in fact a watcher and protector, not a waker.)

Casi will contact us with more news once they are up and going.

The Quest group had just reached the middle of the Pacific Ocean on their water horses when they found a small island to take a break. Lorelei iris-messaged camp to tell Chiron where they were and if anything had happened at camp.

Chiron told her everything was fine, and suddenly asked to talk to Grover in private. Unfortunatley, Juniper (tree nymph, Grover's girlfriend) was terribly ill. Apparently Juniper's life source, the juniper, was poisioned by the toxic air left over from the forest fire caused by the recent dragon attacked.

Lorelei was very upset, because she and Juniper had bonded over time and become close friends. She told Chiron over iris-message: "I'm going to try and make things right", and told Grover to help Juniper.

Without hesitation, Grover called over his water horse and galloped back to Camp Half-Blood to comfort his sick girlfriend.

The Quest group has been narrowed down to three, leaving only Lorelei, Clarisse and Percy.

And as we speak, Grover is helping Juniper fight for her life.

The Quest has officially begun. This morning at 7:30 AM, Lorelei Eve (leader) and companions Percy Jackson and Clarisse La Rue took off. With Percy's help, the three hitched a ride with some water horses. They gallop above the ocean surface and can travel an outstanding distance. We asked the leader Lorelei what their gameplan was.

"I'm just going to wing it. See what happens. Like I always say: the best comes out of natural curiousity and good instinct," Lorelei smiles.

To the right you can see a picture taken of the crew taking off, Lorelei being the blonde girl armed with arrows and Percy the one with the green shirt. Clarisse is somewhere in the back (she hates having her picture taken).

We wish the Quest group all their luck and hope they make it out alive.

The horrific attack on Camp Half-Blood took place last night at 9:30 PM. Camp Half-Blood experienced a long dragon invasion. Campers were forced out of their cabins to fight.

Three lives were lost due to the dragon battle (two of which coming from the Apollo cabin, the other the Ares cabin). Two campers were TAKEN by the dragons. Their condition is unknown.

Those two campers were Annabeth Chase and Thalia Grace.

Apparently Annabeth Chase (counselor of Athena cabin) had been attacked before at the beach with Percy, but the dragon failed to take her away. This time, the dragon clasped his claw over her when she tried to take it down with her dagger.

Thalia Grace (leader of the Hunters) had visited Camp Half-Blood with her Hunters this week and intended to stay for Easter. The dragon knocked away all of the Hunters, and gave about 12 hunters minor burns. The dragon grabbed Thalia and flew off.

What is really interesting is we got a note explaining their capture--from long-dead Luke Castellan. He does not want to hurt us. He does not want to kill anyone. Read the note to find out.

Today the Hunters took a visit to Camp Half-Blood! Everyone welcomed the huntresses as they approached Camp Half-Blood riding on the backs of the rare albino dragons they had hunted down and trained. There was cheering, music...and a huge fight.

Best friends but total rebels, Thalia Grace, leader of the Hunters, and Percy Jackson, from the Poseidon cabin, started a huge fight. It started from a tiny argument to a huge physical fight that damaged camp ground. Thalia's lightning accidentaly struck the Ares cabin (but they don't mind, the Ares cabin thinks a hole in the roof is cool), and Percy's waves drowned some of Juniper's best friends in their plant form.

Thalia and Percy were both yelled at by Mr. D and recieved kitchen duty for the next three months.

The Quest is now over! Lorelei Eve, who has been held hostage for over four weeks now, is now safely returned to Camp Half-Blood in one piece.

This is what happened: it was all the plot of the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite herself. When she found out Artemis had a daughter that was supposedly just as beautiful as her own Aphrodite daughters, she got jealous and bribed Hades to take her to the Underworld so that Aphrodite would never looked upon Lorelei again. Aphrodite sent her Cupids dressed in black to keep her hostage and make sure she'd never come out. When Aphrodite heard that the Quest was on to rescue Lorelei, she took Annabeth in the hopes the Quest group would flee. She even sent dragons after them. But no, the group successfully broke into the Underworld and released Lorelei and Annabeth once and for all.

Aphrodite has recieved the punishment of interfering with the god's children. Aphrodite cannot look in a mirror for a week (which will be torture for her).

Perseus Jackson (hero) Iris-messaged Chiron this morning about a terrifying dream he had. Usually Chiron doesn't do this, but this is a serious crisis so he sent Morpheus, god of dreams to put together Percy's dream.

Percy saw, according to Morpheus, a dark cave with about a dozen dark cloaked figures, one of them holding Annabeth with a knife behind her back and one holding a knife to Lorelei's neck. In a raspy voice, Morpheus uncovered: "Daughter of Athena, tell us where your Quest group is staying, or the Last Daugher of Artemis will die."

Suddenly, then the dream vanished. To this minute we are still attemping to uncover the dream. One thing is certain: whomever is holding Lorelei hostage is NOT Hades.

February  21rst, 2010, 10:30 AM, Chiron (camp director) recieved a shocking text message from Perseus Jackson (quest hero) stating this message:

"Chiron, we need help. A demon took Annabeth. We don't know where or why. What do we do??? Percy."

We Iris-messaged the Quest group to get more information, but the connection was terrible. All we could make out was that Annabeth Chase (quest hero) was taken by a demon. The group was carefully walking against a cliff when suddenly the demon burst from the cliff's edge. It attacked them with its claws, Percy swiping the Riptide, Annabeth handy with the bow-and-arrow, Grover attracting a swarm of bees with his reed pipes to sting the demon, Katie trying to wrap vines around the demon's leg, Brie and Silena hiding behind a boulder. In attempt to grab Percy, Annabeth stood in front of him and the creature took Annabeth away into the sky.

February 14th, 2010, 8:00 PM, Chiron (camp director) has officially called on the Quest for Lorelei.

This is a huge quest, so Chiron has selected many heroes for different reasons: Katie Gardner (best friend of Lorelei, may provide good advice), Annabeth Chase (battle strategy, wisdom), Percy Jackson (battle skills, powers), Brie Lancaster (bait), Silena Beauregard (disctraction), and Grover Underwood (reed pipes, animal translation, wildlife knowledge).

Tommorrow, February 15th, our heroes will set off at dawn. We wish them the best of luck.

February 14th, 2010, at 5:02 AM, Lorelei Eve, the newest camper at Camp-Half Blood, was abducted by the Minotaur.

On the top picture to the right, you can see a picture taken by Katie Gardener with her EyePhone.

"It was too sudden," Katie tells CHBG News with tears in her eyes. "We weren't armed or anything. Well, Lorelei had her bow-and-arrow, but when she aimed her arrow at the Minotaur, he grabbed it an snapped it in half."

At around 4:50 AM, Lorelei and Katie woke up. They weren't tired, so they both decided to leave the Demeter cabin and take a walk. Since there were Harpies on night duty at camp, they left the Camp Half-Blood gate. About 100 ft. away from the gate, a Minotaur came from behind the trees and attacked the two girls.

"We could barely see a thing," Katie says. "Our sight was dimmed from the morning mist and darkness of the sky. We didn't know what the Minotaur wanted. When Lorelei and I ran back to the Gate, he grabbed Lorelei. She screamed and I called for help, but it was too late...by the time Chiron woke up and galloped over, Lorelei and the Minotaur had evaported into gold dust."
